Conservative Profile

The Conservative profile is designed for operators who prioritize capital preservation above all else. It produces a smaller number of trades, each held to a higher standard of signal quality, with strict limits on position size and drawdown.

When to use Conservative

  • You are deploying real capital for the first time on TRADEOS.tech
  • You are operating in a volatile or uncertain market environment
  • Your drawdown tolerance is low and capital preservation is the primary goal
  • You want the system to act only when it has high conviction — fewer, better trades over higher frequency

Behavioral characteristics

Signal gating — the Conservative profile requires the highest signal confidence threshold of any built-in profile. Signals that would pass as Balanced or Aggressive do not pass here. The system will sit out many potential setups rather than take low-confidence entries.

Position sizing — position sizes are tightly capped relative to portfolio value. Kelly-optimal sizing is applied, but the Kelly fraction cap is the most restrictive of any profile, ensuring the system never concentrates meaningful portfolio risk on a single trade.

Drawdown response — the drawdown breaker activates at the tightest portfolio drawdown threshold. Once active, the system halts new long entries until portfolio value recovers. This makes the Conservative profile the most defensive against extended losing streaks.

Hold time — positions are held for the shortest maximum duration of any profile. The system will exit a position that hasn't reached its target within the hold window, accepting a smaller gain or a controlled loss rather than extending exposure indefinitely.

Signal types — only core signal types are enabled. Enhanced and experimental signals are disabled regardless of their individual confidence scores.

Trade-offs

The Conservative profile will miss profitable setups that a Balanced or Aggressive profile would take. This is intentional. The goal is not to maximize expected return — it is to minimize the probability and magnitude of loss. In periods of market dislocation or elevated regime uncertainty, Conservative is the appropriate default.

Profile switching

You can switch to a different profile at any time from the dashboard. The change takes effect immediately for new trade intents. See Strategy Profiles for a comparison of all profiles.
