Balanced Profile

The Balanced profile is the recommended starting point for most operators with some prior experience running automated trading systems. It strikes a deliberate middle ground between capital preservation and growth — accepting moderate risk in pursuit of consistent, compounding returns.

When to use Balanced

  • You have validated TRADEOS.tech behavior in paper trading and are ready to deploy capital
  • You want reasonable trade frequency without the concentrated risk of the Aggressive profile
  • You can tolerate moderate drawdown periods without reducing operational effectiveness
  • You want access to enhanced signal types beyond the core set, without full experimental exposure

Behavioral characteristics

Signal gating — the Balanced profile uses a moderate signal confidence threshold. More setups qualify compared to Conservative, but low-conviction signals are still filtered. The system will trade more frequently but remains selective.

Position sizing — position sizes are capped at a moderate percentage of portfolio value. The Kelly fraction cap is calibrated to produce meaningful gains without concentrating more than a prudent fraction of capital in any single position.

Drawdown response — the drawdown breaker activates at a moderate portfolio drawdown threshold — wider than Conservative but still protective. During recovery periods, position sizing is reduced and signal gates are tightened.

Hold time — positions are held up to a moderate maximum duration, giving trades time to develop without indefinite exposure.

Signal types — core and enhanced signal types are both enabled. Enhanced signals include more sophisticated alpha factors (e.g., order flow models, macro-regime signals) that require more data and have wider confidence intervals but contribute additional edge when they agree with core signals.

Trade-offs

The Balanced profile accepts a broader set of trade setups than Conservative, which means it will occasionally take trades that don't work out. The expectation is that enhanced signal access and more frequent trading produce higher expected cumulative returns at the cost of occasional drawdown periods that would not occur under Conservative.

In strongly trending markets, Balanced typically performs well. In choppy, low-volatility environments, it may produce more marginal trades. The autonomous agent monitors this and can propose a profile adjustment if performance deteriorates materially.

Profile switching

You can switch to a different profile at any time from the dashboard. The change takes effect immediately for new trade intents. See Strategy Profiles for a comparison of all profiles.
